Why We Prefer Progressive Web Apps

There is a strange thing happening right now.

People are becoming less patient with software while expecting more from it. Nobody wants another download. Nobody wants another account. Nobody wants to wait three minutes just to see if they even like the experience.

Most products do not need an app store

This sounds controversial until you think about it.

A lot of products are not competing on native performance. They are competing on access, speed, and convenience.

People want to click a link and start experiencing a product. And this is where Progressive Web Apps become interesting.

They let products grow naturally

One thing we like about PWAs is that they do not force commitment too early.

Someone can open the experience in a browser.

Come back later.

Install if they want.

Never install and still have a good experience.

They are surprisingly capable

PWAs have offline support, notifications, fast loading times, and cross-device continuity— just like a traditional app.

Most people would struggle to tell the difference between a good PWA and a traditional app unless you pointed it out.

This is not dogma

Some products absolutely deserve native apps. But many products are carrying complexity they never asked for. At this company, we prefer starting lighter and earning complexity later.
